ALBANY -- Governor Cuomo is working to combat long-term unemployment in New York State.
He announced a new initiative to distribute $6 million in federal grants to companies hiring long-term unemployed individuals.
The initiative will help train workers and give job opportunities to the unemployed.
Mobile response teams will also set up temporary stations in high unemployment areas to offer additional job training help.
The teams will travel around Upstate New York in the next month and plans to meet with at least 25% of those who are unemployed.
