TRENTON (AP) -- Authorities say a veteran state police investigator has been arrested on drunken driving charges after the off-duty crash of his vehicle on a central New York road last weekend.

State police say 36-year-old Richard Mody (MOH'-dee) of Utica remains hospitalized Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries since Saturday's early morning crash.

Trooper Jack Keller says Mody was driving his personal car around 2:30 a.m. when he struck a guiderail then a culvert in the Oneida County town of Trenton, north of Utica.

Keller says Mody was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Mody is a 15-year state police veteran assigned to the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona. Keller says he's suspended without pay.

Keller didn't know if Mody had a lawyer.
