SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man was indicted Thursday on murder charges.

38-year-old Craig Owens is charged with second degree murder and first degree manslaughter.

He is charged in the death of 18-year-old Letisha Hayes who was killed on Christmas Eve 2011.

Hayes was found unconscious and severely beaten on Steuben Street. She later died from severe head and facial trauma.

Police say Owens has 30 prior arrests for assault, drugs and unlawful imprisonment and has a history of domestic violence.
