SYRACUSE -- A 68-year-old man was beaten while playing a round of golf on the Burnet Park Golf Course on Tipperary Hill Friday afternoon.

Syracuse police say the man, who has not been identified, was approached by three young men just before 3:00 p.m. Investigators say the suspects asked to use his cell phone. After the man refused, one of the suspects pulled out a box cutter and threatened him.

Sgt. Tom Connellan says the three males then took the man's golf clubs and beat him with them.

The man is recovering with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Syracuse police.
