Gouverneur hospital shut down for 'imminent risks'

E.J. Noble Nursing home remains open

E. J. Noble Hospital in Gouvernour is shut down because of concerns over laboratory services

The State Health Department has shut down E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur because of 'serious and on-going issues related to the hospital's laboratory services, which pose imminent risks to patient health and safety.'

The hospital's 18 patients are being transferred to other area hospitals, including Samaritan in Watertown, and no emergency or other admissions are being accepted.

The Nursing Home at E J Noble remains open, though laboratory work is being outsourced.
