SYRACUSE (AP) -- A 19-year-old central New York man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for killing another man in 2010.
Shakeem Moore of Syracuse was originally charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty September 7 to first-degree manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors.
Authorities said 27-year-old Tavorn Hunter of Syracuse was shot to death during a struggle when Moore tried to rob him during a marijuana deal in October 2010.
Moore was sentenced Tuesday. Upon release from prison he will also receive three years of probation.
