NEW HARTFORD -- Family and friends will gather to remember 18-year-old Alexandra Kogut at calling hours Wednesday and her funeral on Thursday.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford.
Kogut was killed in her SUNY Brockport dorm room Saturday morning. Police say her boyfriend, 21-year-old Clayton Whittemore, is charged with second degree murder and has pleaded not guilty.
Kogut graduated from New Hartford High School and was the captain of the girl's swimming team. On Monday, students at New Hartford wore purple in honor of Kogut. Purple was Kogut's favorite color and is a symbol of October being Domestic Violence Awareness month.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to New Hartford Central School District, Attn: Kim Hibbard, 29 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 to establish an Alexandra Kogut memorial award.
