WASHINGTON -- Government officials are warning car owners whose airbags have been replaced in the past three years.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says thousands of people may be driving vehicles with counterfeit air bags, which could fail to inflate in a crash.

According to Reuters, the NHTSA believes the issue affects 1% or less of the population.
