ITHACA -- Ithaca Commons re-opened at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night after a suspicious package was found outside the Bank of America building earlier in the afternoon.

Police say just after 3:00 p.m. they received a phone call reporting a suspicious package outside the Bank of America Building with the word "bomb" on it. The Ithaca Police Department and the Ithaca Fire Department responded and evacuated the Bank of America Building as well as several other buildings nearby. The Ithaca Commons was closed to pedestrians during the investigation.

The Seneca County Canine Unit and the New York State Police Bomb Disposal Unit assisted in the investigation. They determined the package wasn't a threat.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information about the case should report it to the Ithaca Police Department at (607) 272-9973.
