WAMPSVILLE -- A month-long narcotics investigation in Madison County concluded with the arrests of two individuals for heroin.
Deputies arrested say Amber L. Epolito, 22, of Syracuse and Christopher S. Strauss, 24, of the Town of Sullivan.
Epolito was charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
Strauss was charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
Both were arraigned Monday morning in Madison County Court where they were remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $5,000 bail bond.
"This is the first in what we feel will be a series of arrests for illegal drug activity in Madison County," said Sheriff Allen Riley in a media release. "I am very pleased with the determination of our investigation teams and Deputies who have put an extraordinary amount of effort in combating this problem, and are moving full-steam ahead in all areas of the County. We will track down those who bring this drug, or any other drug, into our community, and hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law," said Riley.
