SYRACUSE -- A sentence has been handed down in the accidental shooting death of 25-year old Morgan McMahon that happened in May 2010.

McMahon was shot inside a minivan along the 100 block of Glahn Avenue on the city's south side and died the next day.

Police say McMahon was riding with three other people when the minivan hit a bump in the road and a gun inside went off, hitting McMahon.

Deon Farley, 24, was in the minivan at the time. He was sentenced to one and a third to four years in state prison for criminally negligent homicide.

He was also given 10 years, with five years post release supervision, for criminal possession of a weapon.

Farley will serve the time consecutively.
