Two Syracuse robberies being investigated by police

SYRACUSE -- Theis currently investigating two separate robberies that happened on the north side.

According to the Syracuse Police, the first one occurred a little before 10:00 on Thursday night in the 2500 block of James Street.  The victim, a 43-year-old man, was walking home from work when he was approached by two black, male suspects.  One is described as being in his 20's with a skinny build and the other is described as being in his 20's, as well, but with a heavier build.

After approaching the victim and talking to him, the two suspects attacked him.  The victim lost cash and a handheld game.  He has bumps and bruises to his face and head.

The suspects told the victim they had a gun but it was never displayed.

The second robbery took place at 10:30 on Thursday night in the 300 block of Nichols Avenue.  A 19-year-old female was walking home when a black male suspect, between five-feet-seven-inches and five-feet-nine-inches, approached her and tried to take her purse by knocking her to the ground.  She fought back and kept the purse.  The suspect ran away on foot.

The victim has scrapes to her side because she was knocked to the ground.

At this time, it is not known if these the two robberies are related.
