SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are on the scene of a "serious shooting" on Catherine Street on the city's northside. The crime scene is in the area of the 600 block of Catherine, near the intersection of Hickory Street. Police say a man was shot in the back and is now in serious condition at a hospital. CNYcentral is on the scene and will provide updates here as soon we we have new information.
This is the second major crime Syracuse police have investigated in the past 24 hours. Early Thursday morning a man was killed inside his southside home. In that case police say the man's young son saw the slaying happen.
