SYRACUSE (AP) -- Vandals have smashed almost half of the 43 bike lane lights recently installed at Syracuse University.
The waist-high red posts topped with lighting globes line University Avenue, which runs into the campus. The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that they were installed in recent months at a cost of $1,100 each.
Nineteen of the 43 lights were broken as of this week.
Syracuse University officials say they're working to deter further vandalism.
