SYRACUSE -- Clergy, elected leaders and members of the community stood together Tuesday afternoon at The Dunbar Center with a simple message: if you know something about the murder of Jerry Mack - speak up and say something.
Earlier this month, Mack, 65, was inside his home on West Kennedy Street with his seven-year-old son. Three men came in and killed him, although police have not revealed how he was killed. Investigators have said the boy is "traumatized" by the events, and officers are working with him.
"My community is tired of this, we need people who will stand up and speak out," said Syracuse Common Councilor Helen Hudson at the Dunbar Center event. Her plea was echoed by Tim Jennings-Bey of Syracuse Trauma Response. He spoke of the need to stop the silence surrounding killings in Syracuse. "We need to cut this virus off in its path," Jennings-Bey said.
Syracuse Police are looking for three suspects, described by witnesses as "dark skinned men," who were seen entering the home and attacking Mack, apparently as part of a robbery. You can call in confidential tips to 422-5222 or click here to email the department a tip.
