NEW YORK CITY -- The mother of two young children found stabbed to death in the family's New York City apartment kept a loving blog of her children, detailing their latest antics and interests, and full of happy photos.
Police in New York City suspect an Upper West Side nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, stabbed to death two small children who she was taking care of while their mother was out. It is believed the nanny then slit her own wrists in a failed suicide bid.
The children's 36-year-old pediatrician mother, Marina Krim, came home from running errands at about 5:34 p.m. and found the nanny on the bathroom floor suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted stab wounds. The kitchen knife they say was involved was found next to her. Authorities say the nanny is at the hospital in critical condition.
The New York Daily News reports the children's father is Kevin Krim, CNBC's general manager of digital content. NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told WCBS-TV that the mother arrived home to find the lights in the apartment out. Commissioner Kelly told reporters the children who were killed were ages 2 and 6. He also said that the nanny was 50-years-old and was unconscious when the mother discovered the scene.
Kelly says it's unclear how long the nanny had worked for the family. No charges have been filed.
