SYRACUSE (AP) -- A $205,000 settlement has been reached in the case of a former police officer who said she was a victim of race and gender discrimination in the Syracuse department.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Stephanie Irving-Linton agreed to the settlement with the city last week just before trial in federal court. It's still subject to approval by the city's Common Council.

Irving-Linton, who is black, claimed she was held to different standards than white, male officers and was subjected to retaliation when she protested.

City Corporation Counsel Mary Anne Doherty says the city isn't admitting any wrongdoing in the settlement.

Irving-Linton, who joined the force in 1986 and retired in 2011, was seeking $10 million in her suit against the city.
