Fatal crash in Van Buren

VAN BUREN --
One person was killed in a car-truck crash Tuesday morning in Van Buren, just west of Syracuse.
Police say a yellow carwas traveling on Route 31 near Dead Creek Road when it tried to pass a pickup and hit a pickup truck. It happened just after 6:30 a.m.
Police say the driver of the car, 20-year-old Joshua M. Menkins of Phoenix, was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at Upstate Medical Center at 8:02am.
The driver of the truck, Frederick G. Wilhelm Jr. of Warners, was taken to University Hospital for multiple leg fractures and internal injuries. He was reportedly in good condition Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation is continuing.
