CONNECTICUT -- Two houses in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, have been destroyed by fire during Hurricane Sandy.

Fire officials say the fire broke out Monday night around 9:00 p.m., but firefighters were unable to get to the area because it is flooded by several feet of water.

Fueled by strong winds, the fire quickly spread from one home to another.

It’s not clear if there was anyone in the homes when the blaze broke out.

No word on what caused the fire.
