GREENFIELD (NY) (AP) -- A 27-year-old upstate New York man has been accused of battering his mother to death and hiding her body under a shed at their home.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's office tells local media outlets that Joshua Mcwain had an argument Saturday with Carol Stanford and hit her with a blunt object.

Police say he was arrested Wednesday after investigators found his mother's body on the property in the town of Greenfield.

Mcwain was arraigned in town court on a second-degree murder charge. He's is being held without bail. Court officials weren't available to say if he has a lawyer.

Greenfield is 30 miles north of Albany.
