SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has issued the following statement regarding New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's endorsement of President Barack Obama and his bid for re-election:

"Mayor Bloomberg understands real leadership in government comes on the local level.  This is why progressive leadership on the environment and on energy has been happening in cities like New York and like Syracuse where we have made innovative decisions to improve planning, to develop energy efficiencies, and to create the new green tech jobs the New York economy needs.  I am proud to support President Obama who has the record of supporting our environment and new energy needs and the plan to transform a new energy economy for the 21st century.  I am glad Mayor Bloomberg, who shares this commitment, has decided to support the President's bid for re-election.  It is the right decision for our cities and for our countries."
