Metro Mattress donates mattresses to Ronald McDonald House

SYRACUSE -- Over a year after construction began on the new Ronald McDonald House on East Genesee Street, the House is nearly complete and expects to open later this month.
Much of the work for the Ronald McDonald House has been donated and on Friday they accepted a donation of 52 queen mattresses from Metro Mattress.
Mark Bell, Director of Service and Procurement for Metro Mattress, says the company gives away 200 mattresses a year to good causes and the new Ronald McDonald House was a perfect fit.
"These families who come here their day to day lives are a struggle, so to make their night a little better really fits in with what we do," Bell says.
Beth Trunfio, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York, says the mattresses donated Friday are one of the more important additions to the new Ronald McDonald House.
"That's what's been given to our families from Metro Mattress, the gift of a restful night’s sleep, when otherwise their worries are so great," she says.
Trunfio says the public will get their first chance to see the completed Ronald McDonald House at an open house scheduled for November 20.
The new Ronald McDonald House is 35,000-square-foot and located at 1100 East Genesee Street is fully handicap accessible and each of the 25 private rooms comes with its own private bath.
