NEW YORK (AP) -- New York city has spent more than $85 million so far on Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts, ranging from ready-to-eat meals for residents to aviation fuel for police.

And the figures City Comptroller John Liu (LOO') released Monday just cover emergency contracts with companies - not overtime for city workers or various other expenses.

More than $30 million has been spent on repairing ravaged shorelines and beaches in areas including Coney Island and the Rockaways. More than $29 million has gone to getting pumps, heavy equipment, additional workers and satellite phones for sanitation and sewage treatment work.

The expenses also include oxygen supplies, sandbags, dock repairs, laptops for city workers and elevator and escalator repairs at the Staten Island Ferry terminals.
