GEDDES -- A Syracuse man is charged with accidentally shooting his friend in the Town of Geddes.

Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say 20-year-old Michael Hallock, of 4915 West Genesee St., accidentally shot his friend while they were playing with a gun. 20-year-old Thomas Devine Jr. was shot in the chest and critically hurt.

It happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday at Devine's apartment on Grand Avenue.

Witnesses say Hallock and Devine were horsing around with Devine's guns including a 7.62 rifle, which they pointed at each other several times. They say Hallock pointed the rifle at Devine's chest when it accidentally went off.

Hallock is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon for possessing metal knuckles and a metal knuckle knife. He was scheduled to be arraigned in the Town of Geddes Court.
