KIRKLAND, ONEIDA CO. -- State Police have identified the pedestrian killed in an accident in the Town of Kirkland.

It happened just before noon on Sunday on ST-12B at Limberlost Road.

Police say 55-year-old Mark Knapp, of Utica, died from his injuries suffered when he was hit by a car.

Police say a driver of a 2012 Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on ST-12B when he drove into the shoulder, striking Knapp and 70-year-old Beverly Clary, of Clinton. She suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital in serious condition.

The driver was not hurt.

Police continue to investigate.
