This March, Pulaski residents will be asked to vote on eliminating their Village Police.

Mayor Karl Hax told us this afternoon that it's part of the budget crunch.  He is confident that the village has enough law enforcement, citing the State Police barracks in Pulaski, along with Oswego County Sheriff's Deputies and the DEC Enforcement staffers, also in Pulaski. The Mayor says scheduling is also an issue, with difficulties in filling high-need times.

Pulaski Police Chief Chief Ellery D. Terpening tells us he's heard of the plans, but wonders about the true savings.

The Pulaski Police force has two fulltime and eight part time officers. It's expected a public hearing will be held after the first of the year, with the vote on the police future, part of village elections in March.
