TRENTON, ONEIDA COUNTY -- The Supervisor of the Town of Trenton in Oneida County, Mark P. Scheidelman, was arrested on sex abuse charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a child under the age of 11-years-old.

Scheidelman has been the Supervisor of the Town of Trenton since 1992, according to the town’s website. He is a former Oneida County Republican chairman.

Scheidelman is a former Boy Scouts scoutmaster in Trenton. When contacted by CNY Central, The Boy Scout Executive says Scheidelman is not currently involved with the Boy Scouts and they don’t have any record of his involvement after 1999.

Police say Scheidelman is charged with one count of first degree sex abuse, a felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000.

Police say the victims have been offered counseling through the Child Advocacy Center. They are asking anyone who believes they may have been abused to call the Advocacy Center at 732-3990. You can also call State Police at 366-6000.
