SYRACUSE -- More than 200 women from across the state attended the New York Women in Law Enforcement Annual Training Conference this year.

Women who work as police officers, prosecutors and attorneys went to lectures with speakers with expertise ranging from leadership to handling synthetic drugs.  This is the third year for the conference and the attendants say conferences like this one help with networking and also helps increase their confidence in a male dominated profession.

"You walk in and you meet very distinguished, very achieved women in law enforcement. It's pretty awe-inspiring," said Syracuse Police Deputy Chief Rebecca Thompson about the conference. "You're surrounded by women in the same field as you."

As part of the conference, the women also work closely with My Sister's Closet and the YWCA. Many of  them donated gently used clothes for women trying to get back on their feet in a working environment.
