SYRACUSE -- A registered sex offender was sentenced Thursday for trying to entice a 13-year-old girl who he met on Facebook into sex.
22-year-old Willie Davis will spend 180 months in jail. He pled guilty on July 3.
Davis was arrested at Carousel Mall when he arrived to meet the girl to engage in sexual activity.
Prosecutors say Davis arranged to meet the girl through Facebook and text messaging. He didn't realize the girl had allowed Homeland Security officials to use her Facebook and text messaging accounts after Davis started communicating with her.
Davis had a prior conviction for rape.
