SYRACUSE -- The cash registers filled up with money, the vans were stuffed with supplies, and the community danced the night away at Dinosaur Barb-B-Que in Syracuse on Sunday. The popular local restaurant hosted several local bands and artists in the effort of raising funds and supplies to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York.

The music began at 1:30 p.m., and continued until late in the evening, as members of the community either dropped off supplies in the parking lot or donated a suggested 10 dollars at the door while listening to local artists like Chris Taylor unplugged, Stroke featuring Isreal Hagan and the Joe Whiting Band.

Scott Sterling of Dinosaur Barb-B-Que along with Edgar Pagan worked together to bring the benefit to life, and after the phone calls were made, thousands of dollars and hundreds of supplies were gathered for those Superstorm Sandy victims.

"Edgar and I have done a lot of musical things together," Sterling says. "We had an opportunity to help some people out, and as luck would have it, in a space that's booked a year ahead most days, we had a wide open day right in the time frame to really get some help down to New York and New Jersey."

Sterling and Pagan hope the relief efforts continue, and that Sundays benefit inspires other business to do the same.
