CICERO -- A woman was critically injured in a single car accident around 2:00 PM Monday afternoon.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Karen Hoyt, 42, of 6993 Van Antwerp Road, was traveling east on Lakeshore Road in Cicero at a high speed on Monday.

Deputies say she was unable to negotiate a curve that was just west of Ontario Avenue and her Nissan Altima struck a guide rail wire, went over an embankment, overturned and stopped on it's roof about 120 yards away from the road.

Rescue crews arrived on the scene and pulled Hoyt from the wreckage.  She was sent to University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition and is currently being treated.

In an email to CNY Central, Hoyt's sister Tina Casale, told us that Hoyt has "a seizure disorder which we believe happened before the accident occurred."

The crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
