ITHACA -- Ithaca police have ruled the death of a 6-month-old boy accidental and do not suspect foul play.
Police say the infant was lying on the couch with a parent. The parent woke up to the child had been suffocated. The infant was not breathing when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
The baby was taken to Cayuga Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
An autopsy was performed by the Broome County Medical Examiner and investigators say the cause of death was accidental.
Police say they will not release any names
