ONEIDA -- A seat-belt saved a Cicero man from serious injury when his truck collided with two deer simultaneously.

Deputies in Oneida County say 53-year-old Robert W. Meader managed to escape serious injury after the truck he was driving collided with two deer at the same time.

Meader was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck north on State Route 26 in the Town of Vernon on Tuesday about 10:34 PM when two deer entered the roadway in front of him.

Poloce say Meader was not able to avoid a collision and struck both deer. His car then went off the east shoulder of the road where the car hit an embankment and overturned.

Meader was taken to Oneida City Hospital and was released after a short time with only a minor cut to his hand.

Meador was not ticketed for the incident.
