SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating the robbery of a 94-year-old woman in her home at 316 Basin Street Wednesday night.

Police say a suspect entered the woman’s home, took money from her purse, and removed the batteries from her phone so she couldn't call for help. The suspect also pushed her down, injuring her arm and leg. Her injuries are non life threatening.

The woman described the suspect as a black male, about 40-years-old, medium build, and wearing a dark winter hat and dark clothing.

Police say the woman's upstairs neighbor heard her cries for help. They were able to her aid her and call police.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to contact the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.

The incident occurred four days after three men broke into the Buffalo home of a 96-year-old church deacon, beat him and stole cash, jewelry and other items. The man remains hospitalized.
