OVID -- A family of six was hurt after they were thrown out of a horse drawn buggy in crash in Seneca County on Sunday.

Deputies say 29-year-old Natalie Covert, of Ovid, crashed into a buggy, which was carrying an Amish family on County Road 139 in Ovid.

Benjamin S. Esh, 39, his wife Fannie S. Esh, 37, and their four children, ages 1, 3, 7 and 16, were ejected from the buggy when it flipped over.

Benjamin Esh and his 16-year-old daughter were taken to Strong Memorial where they were both treated and released.

The Esh’s 3-year-old child was taken to Strong Memorial by Mercy Flight Central where he is still listed in guarded condition.

The Esh’s 1-year-old and 7-year-old children were taken to Cayuga Medical Center in Tompkins County with non-life threatening injuries where they were treated and released to family.

Fannie Esh was treated at the scene.

Police say Covert’s speed led her the crash.

Covert is due in court to answer to a ticket for failure to reduce speed approaching a horse.
