ALBANY (AP) -- More than 200 members of a New York Army National Guard unit are back in the United States after being deployed to Kuwait earlier this year.

National Guard officials say the members of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team arrived at Camp Shelby, Miss., on Tuesday and Wednesday. They're the first of 1,300 27th Infantry soldiers who will be returning from their deployment throughout December.

The soldiers trained at Camp Shelby before being sent to the Middle East in April. They'll go through out-processing before returning to New York starting as soon as late next week.

The soldiers are based at armories in Buffalo, Syracuse and Geneseo.
