STOP-DWI crackdown across New York State this holiday season

ALBANY -- The 2012 holiday season will be the last of seven STOP-DWI crackdowns this year.

During the crackdown, both state and local law enforcement agencies will be out in force in all of New York State's 62 counties. They will be setting up and using sobriety checkpoints and patrols to help to stop impaired driving and keep the roadways safe.

STOP-DWI (Special Traffic Options Program for Driving While Intoxicated) is a highway safety program that is both comprehensive and financially self-sustaining.  The program allows for all sixty-two counties to qualify for the return of all fines collected alcohol and drug related traffic offenses that occur with their jurisdiction.
