FORT EDWARD (AP) -- An eastern New York man accused of tampering with a propane line before an explosion that killed six people is set to be sentenced.

The Glens Falls Post-Star reports that 34-year-old Steven McComsey is due in court Thursday afternoon.

He pleaded guilty last month to criminally negligent homicide. He had been facing six counts of manslaughter.

Under the terms of the deal with Washington County prosecutors, McComsey didn't admit wrong doing, but acknowledged strong evidence he'd acted recklessly. He faces 1 to 3 years in prison.

The explosion that destroyed his Salem home in July 2011 killed McComsey's girlfriend, the girlfriend's son and 2-month-old granddaughter, the baby's father, McComsey's nephew and a woman visitor.

Investigators said a spark from a water pump switch ignited propane that had leaked and accumulated in the cellar.
