SYRACUSE -- The Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be closed Thursday due to a loss of power.
A spokesperson says a power line was accidentally cut during construction work. National Grid is repairing the line and the zoo is expected to be open on Friday.
The zoo was scheduled to announce a new baby animal at 10 a.m. Thursday. The announcement was postponed due to the power outage.
According to the zoo’s Facebook page, they are making improvements to the main entrance and parking lot. The project is expected to last about six months.
