ITHACA -- Ithaca Police Officers say they were called to the intersection of North Cayuga Street and Lincoln Street because of multiple calls about a domestic disturbance around 6:56 p.m. Sunday.

At the scene, a woman told police that a man used physical force to steal a cell phone from her pocket. She said the man punched, kicked and bit her, which was a violation of a served order of protection.

Ithaca Police say that the next day, Monday around 8:07 p.m., they saw the suspect on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway, near commercial businesses.

Police say that the man resisted arrest and a struggle ensued before he was eventually arrested.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Joaquin A. Jones, was arraigned in Ithaca City Court on Monday evening.  He is charged with robbery, criminal contempt, resisting arrest, menacing, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

Jones was sent to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
