WAYNE COUNTY (AP) -- State police say an 89-year-old man has died and his wife is in critical condition after their pickup truck collided with another vehicle on a western New York road.

Troopers say Harold Fisher of Palmyra was driving west on Route 31 at 5:50 p.m. Monday when he collided with a car in his Wayne County hometown, 20 miles southeast of Rochester.

Fisher was taken to Newark Wayne Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His 86-year-old wife, Dorothy Fisher, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where she's listed in critical condition Tuesday.

The man driving the car was treated at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
