FONDA, NY (AP) -- Two teenage boys have been indicted on murder charges stemming from the shooting deaths of two other teens whose bodies were found in a Mohawk Valley field last summer.
Montgomery County prosecutors tell local media outlets that 15-year-old Matt Phelps of the town of Florida and 16-year-old Anthony Brasmeister of Amsterdam were charged Thursday with two counts each of second-degree murder.
They're charged with the killings of 13-year-old Johnathan DeJesus and 16-year-old Paul Damphier, both of Amsterdam. The victim's bodies were found in a soybean field outside Amsterdam on July 19, nine days after they were reported missing.
Authorities haven't commented on a motive.
Officials say Phelps lived with his mother in the state of Florida but was staying with his grandparents last summer.
Brasmeister's and Phelps' attorneys haven't returned calls seeking comment.
