SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY -- Dozens gathered on Friday at Syracuse University's Wall of Remembrance to honor the victims of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing, where 35 SU students and a couple from Clay were killed on December 21, 1988.

At the memorial, the Crouse Chimes rang 35 times to honor the 35 students killed, and as the chimes reverberated across the SU campus, the group lit candles at the Wall of Remembrance.

The annual ceremony was a way to remember those that were lost two decades ago, but also a place where friends, family and former SU students could work to move forward together. The word "hope" was used throughout the memorial, as those affected are looking to a positive future for the youth of America.

"Each year we have Remembrance Scholars who honor our students who were lost and who pledge to go out and make the world a better place," Judy O'Rourke, who was at SU in 1988, says. "Hope for the future is what I always have, this is a sad day, but the hope for the future is what I look for in our young people.
