Man dead, officer wounded after Binghamton police shootout

BINGHAMTON (AP) -- Police say a man is dead and an officer wounded after a police shootout in Binghamton.

Police tell media outlets that officers got a call about two suspicious men on a city street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. When the officers located the men on the Memorial Street Bridge, police say one of the suspects opened fire and the officers shot back.

One of the suspects was killed and an officer was treated and released from a hospital.

No identities have been released yet.
