Snowmobiler dies on trails in Deruyter

DERUYTER -- A Syracuse man is dead after his sled entered wooded area on trails in DeRuyter around noon on Sunday and struck a tree.

Andrew J. Guelfi, 27, of the town of Onondaga, was riding a snowmobile approximately one mile south of Williams Road, according to state police.

Troopers say Guelfi was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Madison County Coroner ordered his body removed to the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

The investigation continues.
