Oswego man arrested for liquor store robbery

OSWEGO -- The City of Oswego Police Department say in a press release that they have arrested 21-year-old James R. Shipley, of 207 West Fifth Street in Oswego, due to a liquor store robbery that occured on Thursday.

On Monday night, at about 7:06 PM, police were called to Paura's Liquors on 50 West Bridge Street in regards to a robbery complaint.

The officers interviewed many witnesses, who reported that a male entered the establishment, stole multiple bottles of liquor from the shelf and then, while attempting to leave, forced a 59-year-old woman to the ground and struck her.  The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Shipley.  He is charged with robbery in the second degree and assault in the third degree.

He is being held at the Oswego City Police Department pending arraignment.
