There's a growing need for eye donors

Central New York's Eye and Tissue Bank is putting the reminder out, to consider donating upon death, but says the decision should be made while you're still healthy.

Nessa Vercillo, the CNY Eye and Tissue Bank executive director, says that even checking the donor box on a driver's license is not enough, that it's a decision that should be made with knowledge of, and support by, close family members or friends.

A single eye donor  can help up to six people (two cornea, two sclera, which can be divided)  Even people with eye diseases, or who are blind, can donate under most circumstances.
