Second robbery on Syracuse's north side Wednesday night, connection unknown

SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man was arraigned Thursday morning on charges in connection with a robbery on Taft Avenue around 6:48 p.m. Wednesday.

Syracuse Police arrested Deoz Miller-Harris after two females were robbed at gun point by three suspects in the 800 block of Taft Avenue near New Court Avenue.

Police say two female victims reported that their purses were stolen by three black male suspects. All three suspects are described as 5'8", with a thin build, in their late teens to early twenties, two were wearing dark clothing and the other was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Two of the three suspects were armed with handguns, police say. The suspects were last seen on foot heading towards Shop City Shopping Center.

Miller-Harris was charged with second degree robbery but the investigation is still active. He was also charged with criminal contempt and marijuana possession. Miller-Harris' bail was set at $50,000 with a bond of $100,000. His court date is set for Tuesday, January 29.

Police say they do not know if this incident is related toanother robbery which happened around 7:24pm Wednesday at the Syracuse Wine and Spirits on North Salina Street. The store owner, longtime Christian Brothers Academy baseball coach Thomas Dotterer, was shot in the eye during the robbery.

Police say they do not know at this time if the two robberies are connected.
