Port Byron teen hit by SUV on her way to school

PORT BYRON, CAYUGA COUNTY -- A 14 year old girl is recovering at a local hospital after she was hit by an SUV on her way to school Friday morning.

Investigators say it happened just before 7:15 in the Village of Port Byron.

The girl was crossing Utica Street, near the Maple Street intersection on her way to Port Byron School. The SUV was traveling west.

The girl was taken to University Hospital in Syracuse, where she is now in stable condition.

Cayuga County deputies are interviewing people who saw the accident. At this time, no tickets have been issued.

No names have been released.
