HERKIMER (AP) -- A Rochester man has pleaded guilty in connection with the May 2012 crash that killed a woman in central New York.

Daniel Conklin pleaded guilty Tuesday in Herkimer County Court to second-degree manslaughter, assault and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.

Police say the parolee took off when they tried to pull him over on May 24 in the Herkimer County town of Schuyler. After he shoved a front-seat passenger out of the vehicle, police say he crashed into a car driven by 65-year-old Gail Pietruska of Frankfort.

Pietruska was killed. The woman who was pushed out of Conklin's vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

Conklin, who was 24 at the time of the crash, faces up to 8 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 2.
